The Rocksteady Lounge
Myself and Viktor invite guest DJs to join us behind the decks every Monday. The music is vintage 60s and 70s, and includes ska, rocksteady, and early reggae. The crowd is a mix of regulars and Jamaican music aficionados. Akbar has a mellow bar vibe, although attendees often create a makeshift dance area if the music moves them. The Rocksteady Lounge is free from any cover charges and drink specials include $2 draught and domestic beers. 21+, DJs start at 10 pm.

Dub Club
Dub Club is L.A.’s largest reggae night, and for good reason. The club, held in the downstairs portion of The Echo, has a booming sound system, top selectors, live DJs, and showcases top Jamaican acts. Recent performers have included Leroy Sibbles and Barry Llewellyn of The Heptones, Cornell Campbell, U Roy, Stranger Cole, Monty Morris, The Meditations, Brigadier Jerry, and The Mighty Diamonds. Resident Echodelic Soundsystem selectors include Tom Chasteen, Boss Harmony, Dungeonmaster, and Roy Corduroy. Jah Faith, Chicho Don, and Benjamin take care of the microphone duties. The Echo has a full bar and very lively crowd. The dance floor is packed every week, and the sounds played encompass nearly all eras of Jamaican popular music. 21+ (some special events are 18+), doors at 9, free before 10 pm and $5 afterwards (special nights usually have an increased cover charge).
