“Rocksteady: The Roots of Reggae,” is an inside look at the rocksteady genre, documenting the stories of the original musicians and artists that shaped the rocksteady sound, laying the foundation for reggae music. The artists are filmed as they prepare for a reunion concert and re-record classic rocksteady songs for an album release, 40 years following the inception of the sound. The all-star line-up features Stranger Cole, Hopeton Lewis, the I Threes, Derrick Morgan, Gladstone Anderson, Leroy Sibbles, Ernest Ranglin, Hux Brown, Ken Boothe, U Roy, and many more. This documentary is essential viewing, not to be missed!

Moss “Mossman” Raxlen (Montreal, Quebec, Canada), the musical director of the film, is a longtime Jamaican music collector and aficionado. He’s built a heavy collection from his frequent travels to Jamaica and record digging at home and abroad. Come hear his top selection of Jamaican gems at the Rocksteady Lounge!
Resident selectors Nina & Viktor will be there to support with a selection of rocksteady and reggae singles.
